Body Fortress Whey Protein Review In 2023 – Forbes Health - Forbes

With so many protein powders on the market, it's vital to choose one that supports your nutrition goals, says Nicole Swingle, a registered dietician specializing in sports nutrition in Redding, California. When choosing a protein powder, Swingle suggests looking at the type of protein, the amount of protein, the ingredients and if the product has third-party verification checks by associations like NSF International or Informed Sport. The ideal amount of protein per scoop is 24 grams or higher, she adds.

Swingle recommends Body Fortress protein due to its NSF International Certified for Sport third-party verification and protein content, but notes there are higher quality protein powders available.

Beata Rydyger, a registered holistic nutritionist based in Los Angeles, would not recommend Body Fortress because it contains artificial sweeteners, additives, thickeners and bioengineered ingredients. "Long-term ingestion of [artificial sweeteners] could disrupt metabolism, cause digestive distress, promote hormone imbalance and possibly cause liver damage," says Rydyger.

Products containing whey protein may cause side effects like acne, nausea, bloating, increased bowel movements, increased thirst, tiredness and headaches in certain individuals. While individuals who aren't sensitive to lactose can consider whey, those with a dairy sensitivity should opt for plant-based sources, Rydgyer says.

Body Fortress Whey Protein Experience

I ordered the chocolate flavor of the Body Fortress Super Advanced Protein Powder, which looked similar in appearance to other protein powders I've tried in the past. Initially, I tried mixing one scoop with 8 ounces of water in a protein shaker, but I didn't like the grainy consistency. I found that mixing it with the same amount of oat milk created a smoother beverage.

I experienced some bloating while using the Super Advanced Protein Powder, but this is the case with the majority of whey-based protein products I've tried. I drank the shake once daily for two weeks, using it after workouts four to five days a week, then as a breakfast meal replacement on non-workout days. When I drank the shake as a meal replacement, it kept me full until my next meal. I stuck with one scoop of the powder with each use.

This product may be a good option for someone looking to meet or boost their protein intake for a low price, compared to competing brands. The flavor was tolerable, but it wasn't a standout compared to many other protein powders I've tried. In the future, I might use the product when I need something on short notice, but I won't likely use it to replace the organic product I already use as I prefer not to have additives in my protein powder. Overall, it's a solid and widely available protein powder for those who aren't vegan, vegetarian or lactose intolerant.

Plant Protein Perfected

Kaged made it their mission to create a smooth and creamy protein. Through a unique combination of organic quinoa and healthy coconut MCT oil, they achieved a rich and flavorful formula that's not only comparable in texture to whey protein, but helps to deliver muscle-protein synthesis effectively.
