What Kind Of Parasites Do Humans Get? - World Atlas What Kind Of Parasites Do Humans Get? - World Atlas Posted: 03 Jun 2020 12:00 AM PDT By Antonia Čirjak on June 3 2020 in Science Trophozite, infectious form of the parasite Naegleria fowleri. Parasites are organisms that use the body of the host to feed and reproduce, coexisting with them and hurting them in the process. Some of the most common parasites that infect humans are hookworms, scabies mites, tapeworms, and roundworms. Parasite infection is usually treated with medication and in most cases, the host will successfully recover. You would be surprised and horrified to learn that many parasitic organisms can invade the human body and cause it harm. Evolutionary ecology teaches us that parasites are organisms that live inside a host (uninvited of course), usually smaller than the host, causing it to harm and even alter the host's behavior. 'Sushi parasites' have increased 283-fold in past 40 years - Science Daily 'Sushi parasites' have increased 283-fold in past 40 years - Science Daily Posted: 19 Mar 2020 12:00 AM PDT The next time you eat sashimi, nigiri or other forms of raw fish, consider doing a quick check for worms. A new study led by the University of Washington finds dramatic increases in the abundance of a worm that can be transmitted to humans who eat raw or undercooked seafood. Its 283-fold increase in abundance since the 1970s could have implications for the health of humans and marine mammals, which both can inadvertently eat the worm. Thousands of papers have looked at the abundance of this parasitic worm, known as Anisakis or "herring worm," in particular places and at particular times. But this is the first study to combine the results of those papers to investigate how the global abundance of these worms has cha...

Wildlife biologists also reported that analysis of scat from the pack in Moffat County revealed the presence of a parasite that can lead to hydatid disease in livestock, deer, elk and moose. Th...
